50mm – Bruny Island Sunset

 Bruny Island Sunset, Tasmania, Australia

1/40 sec at f8.0, ISO 200
Cropped & Edited in Lightroom
Captured on January 25, 2012

This photo was taken during one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen in my life. There were so many different tones of colours and cloud formations. Of course the photo above doesn’t show all of the colours as much, but I when I saw the cloud formation over the telephone phone pole, I thought the curvaceous lines were very dynamic.

Most of the other photos from this sunset were taken with a wide angle lens, but as you can see, the 50mm can definitely work for sunsets as well! It just gives you a different way of looking at it and forces you to make tough decisions on what to include in the frame (especially when other parts of the sky look like they are on fire!).
