Big Balls of Light

Here’s some inspiration for the Festive Photo Challenge – due December 20, 2011:

Big Balls of Light

1/15 sec at f1.8, ISO 200
Raynox DCR-250 Macro Adapter
Gitzo Tripod & Acratech GP Ballhead
Edited in Lightroom

How did the out of focus bokeh get so large? Well since I was using the Raynox Macro Adapter, it not only enlarged all of the in focus elements, but the out of focus ones as well! The dark ball on the right is a shiny, red, spherical Christmas Tree ornament that came out as black due to the overall exposure. I love the sleek line that it creates!

Hopefully everyone is having luck with their submissions for the Challenge!

Happy Holidays!

Matt

PS Full Disclosure – this photo was taken two days ago, but the post was written yesterday. Somewhat out of my rules but I wanted to share!
